Totus Tuus - To Jesus through Mary.

To impel the beauty of the new evangelization – this is the charism of the Heralds of the Gospel; Its founder, Monsignor João Dias explains."The Heralds of the Gospel is a private association of faithful with a very special charism based essentially on three points: the Eucharist, Mary and the Pope."

The Heralds of the Gospel are an International Association of the Faithful of Pontifical Right, the first to be established by the Holy See in the third millennium, during a ceremony which occurred during the feast of the Chair of St. Peter (February 22) in 2001.

The Heralds of the Gospel strive to be instruments of holiness in the Church by encouraging close unity between faith and life, and working to evangelize particularly through art and culture. Their apostolate, which differs depending upon the environments in which they work, gives pride of place to parish animation, evangelizing families, providing catechetical and cultural formation to young people, and disseminating religious Iiterature.

Diocese of Westminster Welcomes Home WYD Pilgrims

Welcome home Westminster Pilgrims! Didn’t we have a great time out in Rio? I am sure we would all agree that it was a real time of grace and encounter with the living God…

There were so many spiritual highlights including the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Receiving the Sacrament of Penance, Morning Prayer, Catechesis, Recitation of the Holy Rosary, Fellowship, Spiritual Direction, Singing of Hymns, etc.   Also the fact that we were able to do this all in union in a real tangible way with our Holy Father our spiritual leader on earth was a real blessing and gave us all a real sense of the universal nature of the Church.
Well the big question now is how do we keep that sense of encounter, community and faith formation going? As we mentioned out in Rio, Westminster Youth Ministry the department that oversees Youth Ministry in the Archdiocese of Westminster is warmly inviting those 18-35 to join the annual Youth 2000 Festival at Walsingham from the 22 to 26 of August. The festival is the largest annual gathering of young people from across the UK with over a 1,000 in attendance and it would be fantastic if you could join us.
Being a Catholic is of course a life long journey of on-going conversion and we all need to take regular steps to ensure that we are walking in the faith as the Holy Father reminded us on many occasions out in Rio.
For more information on getting to the Youth 2000 Walsingham Festival through transport that Westminster Youth Ministry has laid out for those interested please see here.  Please note that places for transport are filling up fast, please book as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out.
Finally a big thank you to our Archbishop who was with us in spirit and Bishop John Sherrington who accompanied us on the pilgrimage and all the parishes in Westminster and beyond who made WYD possible for our pilgrims. May our young people continue to contribute to the life and mission of our parishes and make our Lord Jesus Christ known to all that they meet.
